Since becoming a full time content creator in 2020, I have often been referred to as a professional attendee. Reviewing events isn’t the only thing I do in my videos, but as it seems I am the main creator doing regular reviews on a variety of events, I have been deemed “that girl who reviews events”. Honestly, there are worse nicknames. I’d had quite a few of them.
Since lockdown ended I have been going to not only a variety of events and expos but sporting events. From creator boxing bouts, to Netflix golf matches, to motorsport races in other countries, I have done videos on a lot of sporting and sporting adjacent events. And lately thats where I feel a lot of my passion lies when it comes to events.
Don’t get me wrong, I still love a good fan convention or an adult video expo (I don’t call myself professionally nosey for nothing) but I want to have a place where I can put more focus on the sporting events I attend and write about the things about them I want without worrying about view count.
Enter Spectator.
Honestly I love the name Spectator for a “sports related thing” for lack of a better phrase, and have been trying to find a way to implement it into my creation business in some capacity. “Amanda! Not every hobby needs to make you money!” Yeah obviously but you know what won't pay my bills? Game tickets! So here is a way for me to justify spending more of my time going to sporting events, even when they don’t make for a good Youtube video review.
Some events I write about here will probably also end up being videos, just by the nature of how I have set up my channel. In those cases (like the first post that will be about the Lumberjack World Championship), I will focus on one day of multi day events, or if it's a one day it will come out after the video on the same event comes out. Just to keep it fair for where the bulk of my audience currently is. This is how it is with everything: Twitch, Spotify, and now Substack. Youtube gets fed first.
Since I want to write about these sporting events a bit more in depth, I will be going into more details about the events in ways that just make a youtube video drag but I still find interesting. Also I end up taking a lot of photos during events that never make a video since they don’t contain a receipt or something insane.
So that's really it: I like sporting events and I want a place to yap without worrying about how it will perform in the dreaded algorithm.
Welcome to Spectator.
